I realized I never posted photos of my reindeer [or deer? I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, since I know only the magical kind fly anyway] collection I gathered this Christmas season. I loved them so much, they're still kicking around the old TV stand. I took away the more Christmas-y ones, and left the cream and brown varieties. They're neutral enough to not read Christmas. I also paired them with my favorite little evergreen trees. I love having decor and styling pieces that aren't super holiday specific. I like decor that can work in multiple applications, that way if you've spent a decent amount on something, at least you're getting a decent return on your investment.
As you can see from looking at my entertainment center, I I do like to group like objects together. Theres my vintage mason jar collection to the right, and my brightly colored birds on the left. I just things seem interesting when there are multiples of the same object. It's the same way I look at flowers; I vastly prefer a bouquet of all the same flower. It's clean, modern and simple, but graphic and effective.
I came very close to bringing home a collection of these sort of animals back from a trip I took to Munich a few years back. The bottlebrush animals must be a staple of Bavaria, as there were hundreds at large the outdoor market near our hotel. All of them were fairly cheap, but our problem was transporting them. They're a bit fragile, and bulky, and since we were living off a carry-on [aka: backpacking for the non-backpacker], we opted not to purchase any, but I really wish I had. Even just one hedgehog would suffice!
