Creating French Provincial Design: Two Toned Dresser

As soon as I took this dresser home, I immediately started painting it.  I've been inspired by the ombre and two toned style lately, and I knew this dresser would be well suited to this treatment. The colors are custom, derived from a mixture of several Annie Sloan colors. I created the base shade [the main frame of the dresser] and then lightened it to paint the drawers [using Country Gray].

The colors harken back to a more French Provincial style of furniture, even though this isn't technically a French Provincial dresser. This piece has some really beautiful details and I played those up with distressing. More than any other dresser I've done, this one feels like a true antique.  Check it out on Craigslist and in my shop shortly! In other news, snagged a few new pieces this morning, [one of which happened to have $96 stashed in the back of it...SCORE!] so I'll be painting up a storm over the next few days.  Happy Friday! :)
