Furniture Haul From West Elm

The other week, our new living room furniture arrived from West Elm! Naturally, I was giddier than little Jo on Christmas morning.  The storage coffee table was meant to be in our great room from the start [I stole our big leather ottoman for the Ponce City Market studio]. The pair of arm chairs were actually meant for our 'formal' living room at the front of the house, but as soon as they arrived, I knew I wanted them in our everyday space.

The chairs were really reasonably priced [$250 a piece with my discount] and they've got a great mid century modern feel with the dark tapered legs. They're perfect for small spaces, and my little TV watching area is on the petite side. They're not super lounge-y chairs since the seat is pretty firm, but they're really comfortable for watching TV or doing work at the coffee table [and let's be honest, that's what I'm doing most often].

I think they're discontinuing this fabric pattern, but this shade of gray ties in perfectly with my adjoining kitchen, so I'm glad I was able to snag this pair.  I also love how my mustard and chartreuse pillows work with the chairs.

Here's another angle that best shows the curved lines of the back and arms.

The storage coffee table is AWESOME. If you live in apartment and don't have room for a proper dining table or office, this allows you a perfect spot to have dinner or work on your laptop at just the right height.

Plus, you can store things in the area inside [for me that's magazines, books, random papers and a blanket].

I chose the walnut finish with brass legs, since it went better with my mid century predilections, but the mango wood and steel legs are equally as beautiful.

If I'm not at the studio, you can find me here, on my laptop, with a cup of coffee or tea in hand.

It's been almost two years since this room was added on, and it's still a work in progress, but this space is easily my favorite in the house. Of course, I want to fill the rest of the room with more beautiful things [some of which will likely come from West Elm!] West Elm is FINALLY opening their new store at Ponce City Market, DIRECTLY NEXT to my studio, which is a serious problem.  I'll need to exercise great restraint with having one of my favorite stores so close by!
