There's one thing you'll expect to do a lot of while in Hawaii, and it's not just the beach. Driving almost everywhere is par for the course, especially in Maui. We stayed in Kaanapali Beach on the west side of the island, which involves a 45+ minute [in our case it was nearly 1.5 hours!] drive from the airport. Unless you're cool with taking little tourist buses or vans everywhere [and at quite a price premium] a car is essential. Lucky for me, I love to drive, and when the views are spectacular in every direction, it's hard to complain. Okay, I definitely was a bit cranky after the drive to and from Hana [more on that another day], and nearly gave up halfway down Mt. Haleakala, but besides a stiff back, it's all worth it.
With nearly everyday involving a road trip, music is essential to keeping me sane and helps make the overall Maui driving experience. I made this mix both for the road and beach. Hawaii has such a mellow, relaxed energy to it [yes, I said energy and yes you start to say things like that when living in paradise!] and so does this mix. [there's actually a much larger compilation of a couple hundred songs, but I wasn't about to list all of that here now was I?]
Being the driver, I couldn't take many photos while on the road, but between the perfect mix of music and the epic [next I'll say gnarly, just watch me] views, I loved every minute.
