House Tour: A Peek inside my Master Bedroom

I've been sharing photos of the house over the past month, and I've finally covered the bulk of the first floor [minus a couple spaces I neglected to shoot, whoops!]. Now we're onto the second floor, a space that didn't exist two years ago!

In the big renovation, we added a staircase up to the former attic and built it out to house a guest bedroom and bath, a spot for our laundry, and my master bedroom and bath.  I'm not one who needs or wants a large bedroom, but I did want to make sure there was enough space for a king size bed.

My bed is actually a California King [slightly narrower than a king, but a bit longer], which was an essential so that all four pets can have a spot in my bed.  Yes, I planned my master bedroom around my pets.  I know exactly what that says about me...!

No, my nightstands don't look this stylish all the time [not even close!], but I do always like to have some sort of greenery near the bed, a few books and magazines, a candle, and hand cream.

This nightstand is the one that isn't my 'side' of the bed, so it actually stays looking lovely for the most part.

I also keep the top of my dresser quite tidy and styled.  For the shoot, I placed an assortment of colorful objects, and none of them are really all that practical, but they're pretty and add a nice punch of color to my neutral toned room.

One of my favorite craft making projects as of late is the cutout silhouette I did of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice [I'm kind of a Jane Austen fan / hopeless romantic!]. I backed it with a colorful, modern paper [from A Beautiful Mess], and I love how it turned out!

I have just the right amount of space for a cozy wingback armchair [this one I've had for ages and picked up for $7.50 on Craigslist...#WINNING]. I paired it with a small table, allowing me a space to place a cup of tea and a magazine.

If I'm being honest, I don't sit here all that often.  I've only had it set up this way for a few weeks, but I really do need to take time out of my day and have a moment to relax in this spot of the house every once in a while!

Here's a shot of the guitar I don't really know how to play, and the curtains I love but don't do the best job of shielding the glaring morning sun. You also get a peek at one of my most coveted screen prints [and no, I can't remember the artist's name, sigh].

Here's a view into my closet. Then, it was fairly tidy, but now it's a bit of a nightmare, since I'm getting ready to pack for a trip coming up [to be discussed soon!]. The closet has plenty of space for everything I have, and really, I don't even need this much hanging space, since I'm working on paring down my wardrobe.

Here are some up close shots of the custom bookcases flanking the closet.  This is one of my favorite features of the room, and normally I'd just stuff the shelves with books. For the shoot, I arranged things a bit nicer, placing the books, along with other objects in a slightly more appealing fashion.  I'm proud to say I've kept this part of my room intact!

I placed my current favorite pair of Frye boots beside my dresser, just to add a touch of color to this spot and make the styling feel a bit more casual.

I painted this piece to bring in the blues from my curtains and bed, and the burnt orange from my rug and pillows.  I painted it with Maui in mind. There was a day where we stood along the ocean and watched this spectacular sunset, and I recorded nearly the entire thing.  Here's a link to the post I did!

Next stop on the house tour will be my bathroom!
