All the design choices for my studio have happened in just a matter of weeks, which is crazy to think! Pulling together an existing space can sometimes be challenging, but when you're given a blank slate, there's nothing more creatively exciting for me! I knew I wanted to keep the color scheme neutral, working mostly in whites and grays. I'm a person who LOVES color, and this is meant to be a creative space filled with ideas and color. Where that will come through is in the pieces of furniture I bring in and the painting I do on a weekly basis. It's the continually rotating pieces that will bring life into the space and be the central focus.
What I didn't foresee was the inspiration I'd get from the location of my studio. Being in my backyard in the midst of all the greenery and having skylights with beautiful views of the trees above, the studio has this feeling of being outdoors. I knew I wanted the space to feel informed by its natural surroundings. All the materials and colors I've chosen so far lend itself to a rustic space, but with modern touches thrown into the mix. Here's a sampling of what I've chosen so far [though I'm still hemming and hawing about paint colors, as I always do!] so you can start to get a feel for what I'm trying to achieve with the studio!
